Edition 2025 — Pecora alla Callara Festival

The 2025 edition of the Pecora alla Callara Festival took place in Barete, a mountain village in the Upper Aterno Valley in the province of L'Aquila. The star was mutton slow-cooked in a copper cauldron, served with homemade bread, rustic side dishes, local wine, and traditional desserts, accompanied by live folk music, folk groups, and markets featuring local products.

On August 10, 2025, Barete hosted the Pecora alla Callara Festival, one of the most cherished gastronomic events in the village. In the heart of the L'Aquila village, the stalls served traditional mutton cooked for hours in a copper callara with herbs, vegetables, and spices, accompanied by typical local products.

The day combined tastings, live folk music, and family entertainment, confirming the festival as a moment of celebration for the entire community of Barete and visitors from the towns of the Upper Aterno Valley, at the foot of the Gran Sasso and Monti della Laga National Park.
