The Patron Saints of Lovere
The Patronal Feasts of Lovere, in the province of Bergamo, celebrate Saints Bartolomea Capitanio and Vincenza Gerosa, founders of the Sisters of Maria Bambina and figures deeply connected to the history of the village overlooking Lake Iseo. Devotion to the two saints is one of the strongest identity elements of the Lovere community.
Two Weeks of Events
The celebrations unfold over a program of about two weeks, alternating religious moments with cultural and entertainment initiatives. Among the most cherished events is the solemn procession with the relics of the saints, from the Basilica of Santa Maria in Valvendra to the Church of the Saints, accompanied by the town band.
Between Faith, Markets, and Culture
Alongside the religious dimension, the feasts offer market stalls in the square, folklore shows, popular dances, theatrical performances, and concerts, such as that of the A. Vivaldi Orchestra. There are also extraordinary openings of museums, like the Galleria dell'Accademia Tadini, and guided boat tours on the lake. The celebrations culminate on the patronal day of May 18th, with solemn masses in the Basilica of Santa Maria in Valvendra.
