Edition 2025 — Feast of the Assunta

On August 7, 2025, Nizza di Sicilia celebrated its patroness, Maria Santissima Assunta, with an intense day of faith and popular celebration. In the morning, a solemn mass was held at the Mother Church, attended by civil and religious authorities; in the late afternoon, the solemn procession of the statue took place through the town streets, accompanied by confraternities, Marian hymns, and a brass band. In the evening, the return of the statue with the blessing of the city, musical entertainment in the square, and fireworks on the seafront.

The 2025 edition

The Patronal Feast of the Madonna Assunta in Nizza di Sicilia (province of Messina, Sicily) held its main day on Thursday, August 7, 2025, anticipating the liturgical solemnity of August 15th by a few days.

The day's program included a 10:30 AM solemn mass in the Mother Church, with the participation of civil and religious authorities; at 6:00 PM, the solemn procession of the Madonna Assunta statue through the town streets, amidst confraternities, Marian hymns, and a brass band; at 9:00 PM, the return of the statue and the blessing of the city; at 9:30 PM, musical entertainment in the square; and at 11:00 PM, fireworks on the seafront, the traditional conclusion of the feast overlooking the Ionian Sea.
