Patronal Feast of Saints Cosmas and Damian in Secondigliano

2025 Edition

The 2025 edition of the Secondigliano patronal feast held special significance: the parish of Saints Cosmas and Damian, led by the Missionaries of the Sacred Hearts, celebrated the 150th anniversary of its dedication with a jubilee year, which opened on September 23.

The religious program began on Saturday, September 13, with a mass presided over by Father Kiran Fernandes and the traditional procession of the Patron Saints' painting along Via Di Maro to Piazza Zanardelli. From September 13 to 22, rosaries, novenas, and Eucharistic celebrations followed, with moments dedicated to catechism students. On Friday, September 26, the solemnity of the Holy Doctors, the day was marked by masses and the solemn blessing with the relics; on the same day, a wreath was laid at the monument to the fallen in Piazza Luigi di Nocera, in the presence of the parish priest and civil and military authorities, followed by symphonic band marches in the square and a concert in honor of the patrons.

On Saturday, September 27, the guided walk "Secondigliano between courts and courtyards" was offered, departing from San Carlo al Ponte on Corso Secondigliano. On Sunday, September 28, the final day, amidst stands selling balloons and souvenirs for children, the musical tour of the Pasquale Anfossi Musical and Cultural Association took place, and at 6:00 PM, the solemn procession with the silver busts of Saints Cosmas and Damian accompanied by the 18th-century image of Our Lady of the Rosary.
