Edition 2025 — Feast of Saint Vitus the Martyr

The 2025 edition of the Patronal Feast of Saint Vitus the Martyr brought Lequile to life throughout the month of June. Starting June 16th, the Historical Pageant re-enacted the arrival of the saint's relics from Naples in 1722, featuring costumed performers, the group Li Pizzicati, and flag-wavers from Oria. From June 20th to 23rd, the community created an Infiorata with 41 panels in colored salt, dedicated to the 'in gloria' procession of Easter Tuesday, amidst religious rites, illuminations, and food stands.

The 2025 patronal feast in Lequile

The 2025 edition of the Patronal Feast of Saint Vitus the Martyr in Lequile, in the province of Lecce, once again combined faith, history, and Salento folk tradition. Kicking off the festivities on June 16th was the Historical Pageant of the Deputazione di San Vito, a costumed re-enactment of the arrival of the saint's relics from Naples in 1722, containing the martyr's blood kept in an ampoule. The procession included performers in period costumes, the musical group Li Pizzicati, flag-wavers from Oria, and local school children, followed by the food stands of the San Vito Festival.

From June 20th to 23rd, the entire community brought the evocative Infiorata to life, composed of 41 figurative panels measuring 2.60 × 2.40 meters made with colored salt, dedicated to the 'in gloria' procession of Easter Tuesday and the town's ancient rituals. Teachers, parents, children, scout groups, and local associations collaborated on the creation, confirming the spirit of participation that characterizes the Lequile festival.
