Patronal Feast of Saint Michael the Archangel and Saint Vitus the Martyr

The 2025 Patronal Feast of Sammichele di Bari brought the town to life from May 8th to 12th. On Thursday the 8th, the solemnity of the Apparitions of Saint Michael the Archangel, festivities opened with a concelebrated Mass on the parvis of the Mother Church and the lighting of the illuminations in Piazza Vittorio Veneto. The following days featured the translation of the statue of Saint Vitus, a musical about Saint Francis of Assisi, and a cabaret show by Renato Ciardo.

The highlight was Sunday, May 11th: the solemn concelebrated Mass presided over by H.E. Monsignor Giuseppe Favale, Bishop of Conversano-Monopoli, the handing over of the city keys to the Patron Saint by the Mayor, and the processions through the streets of the center. In the evening, the return of the statues of Saint Michael and Saint Vitus to the Mother Church was accompanied by a fireworks display and the Grand Concert Band of the City of Bari, conducted by Maestro Pasquale Alezza.

Thursday, May 8: Rosary, prayer to Our Lady of the Rosary, concelebrated Mass on the parvis of the Mother Church, concert "Let us sing to Michael the Archangel of the Apocalypse", lighting of illuminations in Piazza Vittorio Veneto. Friday, May 9: Translation of the statue of Saint Vitus, musical about Saint Francis of Assisi. Saturday, May 10: Novena Mass, street market on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, cabaret show by Renato Ciardo. Sunday, May 11: Holy Masses, solemn concelebration presided over by Monsignor Giuseppe Favale, handing over of the city keys to the Patron, processions, fireworks display, and Grand Concert Band of the City of Bari (cond. Pasquale Alezza). Monday, May 12: Translation of the statue of Saint Vitus.
