Ten days of community for the patron saint of the lower Bergamo area
The Patronal Feast of Saint Mark is the most anticipated event of spring in Cavernago, a municipality in the lower Bergamo area in the Province of Bergamo, best known for the famous Malpaga Castle. The feast is dedicated to Saint Mark the Evangelist, the town's patron saint, and spans about ten days between late April and early May.
The heart of the event is the Oratory of Saint John Bosco, which becomes the community's meeting point for the occasion. The feast is organized by the Pastoral Unit of Cavernago and Malpaga and is designed as a moment of joy, community, and sharing, true to the spirit of patronal feasts in the Bergamo region, which blend religious and social dimensions.
The program, spread over several days, alternates religious celebrations, sports tournaments, activities for all ages, and moments of conviviality with food stalls and gastronomic stands. It's an opportunity to strengthen the bonds of the parish community and involve families, young people, and the elderly in a celebration that belongs to the entire town.
The patronal feast also offers a chance to discover Cavernago and its extraordinary historical heritage, starting with the Malpaga Castle, the residence of the condottiero Bartolomeo Colleoni. A village in the lower Bergamo area that preserves traditions, art, and a strong community identity, of which the Feast of Saint Mark is one of the most genuine expressions.
The 2026 edition of the Patronal Feast of Saint Mark will be held from April 24 to May 3 at the Oratory of Saint John Bosco in Cavernago. The Pastoral Unit of Cavernago and Malpaga invites the community to participate in about ten days of festivities, focused on joy, community, and sharing.
