Edition 2025 — Saint Lawrence Lizzanello
The 2025 Patronal Feast of Saint Lawrence in Lizzanello represented a particularly significant edition for the Salento community. It was, in fact, the first patronal feast celebrated with the new Archbishop of Lecce, Monsignor Angelo Raffaele Panzetta, who presided over the mass and the procession on the eve of August 9th.
Preparations began with the novena in the Mother Church, with the 18th-century statue of Saint Lawrence placed at the altar. On the evening of August 9th, the procession traveled through the streets of the historic center before returning to the parish. On August 10th, the day of the solemnity, morning and evening masses were celebrated, along with the traditional "Changing of the Flags" in front of the Saint's monument in Piazza San Lorenzo.
On the secular side, the festival was animated by brass band concerts from renowned Apulian ensembles, artistic illuminations, and a fireworks display by Angelo Mega Fireworks, in an atmosphere of great popular participation that involved the entire Municipality of Lizzanello, in the Province of Lecce.
