The village celebrates its ancient patron saint
The Patronal Feast of Saint Hilary of Poitiers is the religious and identity event of Nus, a municipality in the Aosta Valley, in the province of Aosta. The patron saint is celebrated every year on January 13th: Saint Hilary was Bishop of Poitiers and Doctor of the Church, living in the 4th century and known for his defense of orthodoxy against Arian heresy.
The bond between Nus and its patron saint is very old: the first documentary evidence of the parish of Saint Hilary dates back to a papal bull issued in 1153 by Pope Eugene III, a testament to a tradition of devotion that spans centuries.
The celebration includes a solemn Mass and the traditional moments of the patronal feast, which bring the community together in the heart of the Aosta Valley winter. An opportunity to rediscover the religious and cultural identity of the village of Nus.
The 2026 edition of the Patronal Feast of Saint Hilary of Poitiers is celebrated in Nus on January 13th, on the day dedicated to the patron saint. The solemn Mass in the parish church of Saint Hilary and the traditional celebrations renew a devotion documented since the 12th century, bringing together the community of the Aosta Valley municipality in the heart of winter.
The detailed program of events will be communicated by the parish and the Municipality of Nus closer to the feast.
