Patronal Feast of Saint Gemma the Virgin and Saint Vincent Ferrer

The 2025 edition of the Saint Gemma Festivities in Goriano Sicoli, in the province of L'Aquila, took place from May 11th to 13th, renewing a centuries-old tradition of the Subequana Valley. The shepherdess, a young girl from San Sebastiano dei Marsi representing the saint, was welcomed by the festival procurator at the votive shrine.

The program featured a solemn Mass in the parish church and the procession of the statue through the village streets. The women of the village prepared the Saint Gemma bread, which was blessed and distributed door-to-door during the afternoon procession, a symbol of sharing and prosperity. A participating crowd accompanied the parade with songs and prayers, in an atmosphere of reflection and gratitude that involved all generations.
