The patron saint of ancient Maronea, between the Trigno Valley and the Adriatic Sea
Montefalcone nel Sannio, the ancient Maronea, is a village in the province of Campobasso that overlooks the Trigno Valley with a view towards the Adriatic Sea. Its patron saint is Saint Anthony of Padua, celebrated every year around June 13th.
The celebrations focus on the days near the anniversary, from June 11th to 13th, with a calendar of religious services: solemn masses, moments of prayer, and the procession with the statue of the Saint that winds through the streets of the historic center, accompanied by the faithful. The patronal feast is one of the main events of the year for the small Molise community and an occasion for the emigrants who return to the village to gather.
The 2026 edition of the patronal feast of Saint Anthony of Padua in Montefalcone nel Sannio takes place from June 11th to 13th, culminating on the anniversary day. The religious program includes solemn masses and the procession with the statue of the Saint along the village streets, amidst devotion and popular participation.
Detailed civil program to be announced by the Municipality in the weeks prior.
