Patronal Feast of Maria SS. Mater Domini

The 2025 edition of the Patronal Feast of Maria SS. Mater Domini renewed the centuries-old devotion to the patron saint in Laterza, in the province of Taranto. On May 20th, the heart of the celebrations, the community gathered around the Sanctuary for the solemn Holy Mass and the emotional ritual of handing over the city keys to the Madonna, a tradition dating back to 1728. The venerated statue was carried in procession along the historic center, accompanied by the confraternities and the brass band. The civil program featured traditional artistic illuminations, concerts on the bandstand, and the spectacular fireworks competition, while the historic town fair took place on May 21st, a community event deeply rooted in the life of Laterza.
