A 2025 Ferragosto focused solely on the procession

The 2025 edition of the Avellino patronal feast had a more intimate character compared to previous years. The festivities opened on July 26th with the 'Alzata del Pannetto' and the procession through the historic center to Piazza Libertà, but for August 15th, the program provided exclusively for the solemn procession in honor of Mary Most Holy Assumed, without illuminations or accompanying concerts.

The statue left the Cathedral at 8:00 PM to travel through the main arteries of the city, accompanied by thousands of the faithful. Starting at 7:00 PM, the municipal administration had ordered the closure to traffic of most of the urban center, from Via Circumvallazione to Piazza Aldo Moro, Via Colombo, Viale Italia, Piazza Libertà, and Piazza Amendola.

The musical accompaniment for the procession was provided by the Bisceglie Musical Band, a national-level ensemble invited to the city by the parish priest of the Duomo. Due to technical issues, however, the 'Palio della Botte' and the costume parade that accompanied the Assumption procession in previous years were cancelled.
