Free guided walk to the Historic Village Seghetti Panichi in Castel di Lama
Paths of Art and Culture are a free initiative taking place in Castel di Lama, a municipality in the Province of Ascoli Piceno in the Marche region. The proposal is simple and evocative: a guided walk of about four kilometers round trip, starting from the Città delle Stelle Shopping Center, which accompanies participants to the Historic Village Seghetti Panichi. The event combines outdoor exercise with the discovery of the territory's historical and landscape heritage, in an experience suitable for those who enjoy walking at a leisurely pace and learning about the places.
The village is an architectural complex that brings together buildings from different eras. Its origins date back to the Middle Ages, when the cluster of houses formed a defensive stronghold on the border of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies; in the 18th century, the ancient fortress was transformed into an elegant country palace. Inside, you can find the Historic Residence, the San Pancrazio Residence, and a noble oratory from 1608 that houses frescoes attributed to the school of Biagio Miniera.
The heart of the village is its approximately five-hectare park, designed between 1875 and 1890 by the great German landscape architect Ludwig Winter. The garden features botanical species from around the world, including palms, citrus trees, rose gardens, and rarities like a Sophora Japonica Pendula from 1875. Studied in the early 2000s, the park is now recognized as the first bioenergetic garden in Europe: a place where the variety of plants and the quality of the environment create an experience that goes beyond a simple visit.
The event is promoted by the Circolo Acli Oscar Romero APS/ASD, in collaboration with the Città delle Stelle Shopping Center and U.S. Acli Marche APS. Participation is free but requires mandatory booking, and places are limited to ensure a quality guided tour. This is a recurring event, offered in multiple seasons of the year, which aims to enhance the connection between the community of Castel di Lama and its extraordinary heritage.
An opportunity to experience the Marche region from an authentic perspective, where the walk becomes an integral part of the cultural discovery.
