Passio Christi – Il Martorio

The 2025 edition of the Passio Christi – Il Martorio took place on Saturday, April 12, 2025, at 7:00 PM along the streets of Joppolo Giancaxio (Agrigento), during Holy Week.

The performance staged the traditional scenes of the Passion: Jesus before Pilate, the Flagellation, the Condemnation, the Via Crucis, Veronica, Mary meeting her Son, Simon of Cyrene, the Crucifixion, Longinus, the "Scinnenza" and the "Cunnutta" towards the Sepulcher. Actors, extras, and the village choir brought the ancient popular religious tradition to life, according to the texts of Cavalier Filippo D'Orioles.

The event was promoted by the local Pro Loco together with the Municipality, led by Mayor Domenico Migliara, and the Church, offering an opportunity to rediscover the value of tradition and experience a moment of deep spirituality in the Agrigento area.
