Easter Monday amidst nature, tradition, and conviviality at the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grotte
The Pasquettata in Mondolfo is the Easter Monday festival organized by Pro Loco Tre Colli Mondolfo APS in the green and picturesque Pesaro countryside. The event's focal point is the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grotte, nestled in the characteristic Valle dei Tufi, a few kilometers from the historic center of Mondolfo, in the province of Pesaro and Urbino, in the Marche region. It's a simple and genuine occasion to spend Easter Monday outdoors, combining the pleasure of being together with the rediscovery of the territory.
The morning begins with an organized walk starting from the Centocroci parking lot and reaching the Sanctuary, followed by a nature excursion in the Valle dei Tufi. The route allows participants to immerse themselves in the typical landscapes of the area and enjoy the beauty of the spring nature. At noon, it's time for the traditional lunch, prepared with typical Easter products, designed to enhance local flavors and offer a moment of authentic conviviality.
After lunch, the day continues with fun, featuring traditional games, folk dances, and performances that liven up the meadow around the Sanctuary. The familiar and relaxed atmosphere makes the Pasquettata a beloved event for families, groups of friends, and visitors, ideal for those seeking a simple Easter experience immersed in the Marche countryside.
The setting for the event is one of the most fascinating places in the area. The Valle dei Tufi (Valley of the Tuff Stones) gets its name from the ancient Pliocene marine formations, composed of a mix of sand and sandstone, which create a unique landscape of lush vegetation, springs, and caves carved into the sand. The Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grotte, dating back to the 17th century, is named after the presence of these caves, once used by farmers as shelters or storage, and is the ideal starting point for exploring the valley. The Pasquettata thus also becomes an opportunity to discover a precious corner of the natural and cultural heritage of the Municipality of Mondolfo.
The 2026 edition of the Pasquettata in Mondolfo was held on Monday, April 6th, in the picturesque setting of the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grotte. The day, organized by Pro Loco Tre Colli, confirmed the popular formula of previous years: nature, tradition, and conviviality in a green corner of the Pesaro countryside.
