Papel Pride 2025: the first city parade

The fourth edition of Papel Pride, on Saturday, June 7, 2025, was the one that marked the transition from private space to public space. Until then, the pride celebration in Monterotondo had taken place mainly inside and around Papel, a literary café that had become a refuge for LGBTQIA+ people in the area over the years; in 2025, for the first time, it took the form of a city parade.

The gathering took place at 4:00 PM in Piazza Roma, from which the parade departed along the main streets of the center to conclude at the Papel premises. The program combined artistic performances, book presentations, and political messages, with the participation of the Out of the Closet collective and local associations.

The 2025 edition received more attention than expected, with the national press describing Monterotondo as an example of a provincial Pride capable of growing from the grassroots, in a context within the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital where queer visibility remains a daily achievement.
