Panzanella Festival

The 2025 Festival

On August 17, 2025, Poggio Catino hosted the fifty-first Panzanella Festival, an event that has been closing the Ferragosto evenings organized by the Pro Loco in Piazza Indipendenza for over fifty years.

As per tradition, volunteers prepared the panzanella with stale bread, tomatoes, and Sabina extra virgin olive oil, serving it to the public from the food stall opened in the evening. Folk music provided the backdrop, with the accordion of Bruno Duranti accompanying the dancing in the square until late at night.

The edition confirmed the festival's role as a meeting point for the community of Poggio Catino, in the Rieti province, and for the many vacationers present in Sabina during the Ferragosto period.
