Palio of Somma Vesuviana

33rd edition: La Somma speranza

The 2025 edition of the Palio of Somma Vesuviana, inspired by the Jubilee theme of hope, enlivened the historic center from September 12 to 14. The city returned to the atmosphere of the late 16th century with Renaissance-costumed processions, early and folk music, and street games, in a well-established blend of historical re-enactment, religious dimension, and community festival.

The final day saw the eight historic districts compete in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele III in front of a huge audience. The Costantinopoli District won the banner, followed by Santa Maria del Pozzo and Prigliano. As always, behind the three evenings were months of work by the set design, costume, music, and choreography workshops coordinated by the Committee led by Giuseppe Auriemma.

From 6:00 PM, opening with the Piazza dei Ludi, a space for games and entertainment open to all. At 8:00 PM, concert by the Collettivo Vesuviano; at 9:30 PM, DJ producer Gigi Soriani with his Summer Tour.

Day dedicated to the historical re-enactment, opened by the bishop's blessing and enlivened by the Renaissance-costumed procession through the streets of the village.

From 6:00 PM, the games of the 33rd edition in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele III: sack race, tug-of-war, greasy pole, hoop race, and pignatta, with the eight historic districts competing, each with its own colors. In the evening, folk music with La Paranza dell'Agro and a street food area with the ancient flavors of the territory.
