Palio delle Contrade 2025 — the first edition

The first edition of the Palio delle Contrade in San Paolo di Civitate took place on August 8, 2025, promoted by the "Le contrade" APS association. The initiative brought the town's four districts to the square — Aquila, Bue, Civetta, and San Paolo — to compete in a series of ancient and traditional games.

Among the trials, the basket race, reserved for women, stood out: a game that evokes the customs of the past, when baskets were used to transport food and everyday objects. The stated goal of the event was to highlight the culture and history of the San Paolo di Civitate community in the Tavoliere delle Puglie, bringing the games and traditions of the Capitanata region back to life.
