Palio delle Bighe

The 2025 edition marked the historic return of the Palio delle Bighe to Bagno di Gavorrano on Saturday, June 21, after more than thirty years of interruption. Starting at 4:30 PM, the town center transformed into an authentic Roman village, with games for all ages (broom football, sack races, tug-of-war, Roman baskets) and food stalls.

In the evening, around 8:30 PM, the costume parade featured performers portraying senators, consuls, soldiers, priestesses, and merchants, followed by the spectacular chariot race. The districts of the territory — Bagno di Gavorrano, Caldana, Casteani-Castellaccia, Gavorrano, Giuncarico-Grilli, and Ravi — competed for the Palio, with the final victory going to Bagno di Gavorrano. The event was promoted by the local merchants' association with the support of the Municipality of Gavorrano.
