Edition 2025 — Palio dell'Alemanna

On August 30 and 31, 2025, Gela's historic walled center returned to the Middle Ages with the Palio dell'Alemanna. The event featured a grand historical procession in period costume, with hundreds of participants, ladies, knights, and groups from across Sicily, accompanied by flag-wavers, musicians, and falconers. On Saturday, performances enlivened the center, while Sunday saw the parade along Corso Vittorio Emanuele leading up to the Palio tournament.

Palio dell'Alemanna 2025

The 2025 edition of the Palio dell'Alemanna took place in Gela on August 30 and 31, 2025, in the city's historic walled center. The medieval historical re-enactment, organized by the Municipality of Gela with the Gruppo Archeologico Geloi and the patronage of the Sicilian Region, celebrated the patron saint Maria SS dell'Alemanna by bringing the atmosphere of Frederick II of Swabia's court to life.

On Saturday evening, performances by flag-wavers, musicians, and historical groups animated the central part of the city, while on Sunday, the grand historical procession was held: the parade, starting from Piazza Sant'Agostino, crossed Corso Vittorio Emanuele and the main squares up to Piazza Umberto I, amidst falconry shows, combat displays, and dances. The event, which was free to attend, concluded with the Palio tournament and the awarding of the winner.
