Palio de lu Ricchiappe

The fifth edition of the Palio de lu Ricchiappe took place on Sunday, May 11, 2025, following the centuries-old tradition on the afternoon of the Saint Justin feast day. This edition marked a historic milestone: for the first time, the role of Governor was held by a woman, Antonella De Luca. The roles of 'Mater' and 'Pater' were entrusted to former footballer Giada Di Camillo and former striker Stefano Sgherri, respectively.

The race between the district pairs concluded with the victory of the Quarto di Madonna del Freddo, amidst the enthusiasm of the crowd that filled the historic center of Chieti. The event once again combined historical re-enactment, sport, and a strong sense of civic identity, confirming its status as a landmark event for the provincial capital in Abruzzo.
