High culture in the peripheral districts of Rome
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Palcoscenico delle Periferie is a traveling cultural event that chooses to showcase great art where it rarely reaches: in the outskirts of Rome, in the heart of the Lazio region. The underlying idea is simple yet ambitious: to make culture accessible to everyone by bringing high-quality concerts, shows, and performances to the neighborhoods of the IV, XIII, and XV Municipalities, often far from the theaters and concert halls of the historic center.
Launched in 2024 and returning in 2025, the festival transforms public parks, historic villas, and local churches into open-air stages and meeting places for residents, with free admission for all.
The program of Palcoscenico delle Periferie weaves together different artistic languages. At its core is classical music, ranging from the Baroque repertoire to opera, jazz, and cinema soundtracks, performed by prestigious artists and orchestras. Surrounding the music are immersive theatrical shows that tell great stories and highlight major figures from culture, history, and science.
The strength of the festival lies in its choice of locations. Past editions have enlivened spaces such as Villa Carpegna (Municipality XIII), Parco Papacci (Municipality XV), the Casa del Municipio IV, and the Church of San Romano Martire, returning green areas and communal assets to the citizenry as cultural hubs. Each evening thus becomes an opportunity to rediscover and enhance the local neighborhood.
The festival is conceived and produced by IDS – Imprenditori di Sogni, under the artistic direction of Yuri Napoli, in collaboration with the IV, XIII, and XV Municipalities of Rome. The project has established itself among the initiatives selected by the Municipality of Rome's calls for proposals dedicated to live performance outside the center, within the broader framework of the Estate Romana and the capital's proximity cultural policies.
One of the hallmarks of Palcoscenico delle Periferie is that it is completely free: all events are open to the public, usually with online booking to guarantee seats. It is a festival designed for families, music and theater enthusiasts, and anyone wishing to experience culture close to home, helping to build a sense of community in the neighborhoods of Rome.
At the moment, there are no official dates for the 2026 edition of Palcoscenico delle Periferie in Rome. Confirmation will also depend on the calls for proposals from the Municipality of Rome dedicated to live performance outside the center, with activities for 2026 scheduled between July and December. For updates on dates, locations, and the program, it is recommended to consult the website and social media channels of IDS – Imprenditori di Sogni.
Events are held in various locations across the IV, XIII, and XV Municipalities of Rome (parks, historic villas, and local churches). Past venues include Villa Carpegna, Parco Papacci, Casa del Municipio IV, and the Church of San Romano Martire (Largo Antonio Beltramelli 18).
The various spaces are accessible by ATAC public transport (metro, bus, and tram) depending on the Municipality. It is recommended to check the specific venue for each event on the official website and to prioritize public transport, given the locations in the peripheral districts.
Completely free admission. For many shows, online booking is required (often via Eventbrite) until seats are filled.
