Great drama and contemporary playwriting on the stage of the Teatro Comunale Dino Crocco
Every year, from October to April, the Teatro Comunale Dino Crocco in Ovada (Province of Alessandria, Piedmont) turns on the spotlight with a theatre season that has become a staple for theatre enthusiasts across the Monferrato and Acqui Terme areas. The programme, hosted in the historic hall on Corso Martiri della Libertà, strikes a perfect balance between classic drama, author-driven comedy, new playwriting, and musical crossovers, successfully blending nationally acclaimed titles with more experimental works.
The season is the result of a partnership between the Municipality of Ovada, the Hiroshima Mon Amour Association, and the Fondazione Piemonte dal Vivo, the regional live performance circuit. It is this network that enables a town like Ovada to host artists who typically grace the stages of Italy's major theatres, while maintaining a special focus on the local audience and the surrounding territory.
The Dino Crocco is an intimate venue, offering spectators a close and personal connection with the actors on stage. Performances usually begin at 9:00 PM and range from social monologues to great spoken theatre, from intelligent comedy to reflections on memory and history. The programme also includes a section dedicated to families and schools, with afternoon shows designed for younger audiences.
Going to the theatre in Ovada is also an opportunity to discover an elegant corner of lower Piedmont, nestled among the hills of Monferrato and the vineyards of Dolcetto and Barbera. Over the years, the Dino Crocco season has become an important cultural hub, capable of attracting a loyal audience to the city and enriching the cultural life of the Ovada area throughout autumn and winter.
The 2025-2026 season of the Teatro Comunale Dino Crocco in Ovada (AL) consists of eight shows, from late October 2025 to early April 2026, dedicated to great drama, author-driven comedy, and contemporary playwriting.
