Our Lady of the Snows Festival

2025 Edition

On August 5, 2025, the village of Barano, in the municipality of Tornimparte (AQ), celebrated the Our Lady of the Snows Festival. In the days leading up to it, the community had prepared the village by cleaning the streets, setting up lights, and decorating the Church of Santa Maria della Neve.

The central moment was the procession: the statue of the Madonna, carried on shoulders, was taken along the main street of the village in an intense act of collective devotion. Following this, the festival opened up to moments of conviviality with the community lunch and the traditional tablecloth auction in the square in front of the church, an occasion for meeting, especially for the elderly and those returning to their home village. The edition reaffirmed the value of the festival as a sign of continuity and resistance for a community in inland Abruzzo marked by the 2009 earthquake.
