Edition 2025 — Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Sea Festival
In 2025, the festivities in honor of the Blessed Virgin of Mount Carmel in Trani took place from July 6th to 16th, with the solemn novena in the Church of the Carmine and the illuminations in Piazza Tiepolo. On Friday, July 11th, the solemn mass included the entrustment of children to Our Lady of Mount Carmel with the distribution of the scapular.
The heart of the festival was the Sea Festival on Saturday, July 12th: after the evening mass, the sacred image was embarked on a fishing trawler at the Lega Navale piers, escorted by the divers of the "Amici del Mare" association and a parade of boats, under the supervision of the Barletta Port Authority and the Local Maritime Office of Trani. Once the outer harbor was reached, a laurel wreath was blessed and entrusted to the waves in suffrage for those lost at sea, greeted upon its return by a fireworks display at the Santa Lucia pier.
The festivities concluded on Wednesday, July 16th, the liturgical feast day, with morning masses dedicated to workers, fishermen, and seafarers, and the solemn procession through the streets of the center presided over by Archbishop Monsignor Leonardo D'Ascenzo.
