Edition 2025 — Osculana Pugna

The 2025 edition of the Osculana Pugna took place from May 16 to 18 in Ascoli Satriano. Fifteen historical groups from across Italy, coordinated by the Gruppo Storico Romano, brought the 279 BC Battle of Pyrrhus to life with over 150 costumed participants, military camps, and a 100-minute spectacle of theater and combat. Admission was free.

2025 Edition Program

The event opened on Friday, May 16, with an inaugural lecture by Professor Flavio Raviola (University of Padua), author of the essay "Pyrrhus," in conversation with archaeologist Gianfranco Dimitri.

Over the weekend, Saturday, May 17, and Sunday, May 18, the highlight of the event was the grand re-enactment show at 5:00 PM, featuring 100 minutes of action and combat between the armies of Pyrrhus and Decius Mus. At the Dauni Archaeological Park, theatrical performances by Il Teatro della Polvere were held (Saturday at 8:30 PM, Sunday at 7:30 PM), followed by a Celtic and folk music concert by the group EMIAN on Saturday at 9:00 PM.

Throughout the weekend, visitors could explore the military camps, the Daunian village, educational workshops, and archaeological cooking demonstrations, under the artistic direction of Daunìas Aùskla. Admission was free.
