A dive into the Middle Ages in Colletorto, under the Angevin Tower
In Colletorto (CB), a village in lower Molise dominated by its famous Angevin Tower, the Notti Angioine transports residents and visitors to the atmosphere of the Angevin period every year. The event, with almost thirty years of history, is one of the most beloved historical re-enactments in the region.
The festival is dedicated to the charismatic figure of Queen Joan I of Anjou, linked to the history of the village. For two evenings, ladies, knights, soldiers, musicians, artisans, and commoners bring alleys and squares to life with costume parades, medieval encampments, shows, archery contests, historical games, taverns, and live medieval music.
The most anticipated moment is the artistic burning of the Angevin Tower: a spectacular show that illuminates the town's symbol and concludes the re-enactment evenings. The Notti Angioine, organized by the APS Gruppo Storico Giovanna I d'Angiò ETS, combines historical reconstruction, popular participation, and territorial enhancement, bringing an important chapter of Molise's history back to life.
The Notti Angioine return to Colletorto in summer 2026, organized by the APS Gruppo Storico Giovanna I d'Angiò ETS. Following previous editions held on August 11th and 12th, the re-enactment will again feature costume parades, medieval encampments, archery, taverns, and the artistic burning of the Angevin Tower. Precise dates and the detailed program are yet to be announced.
