About Notti Angioine

In mid-August, Colletorto returns to the Middle Ages with the Notti Angioine, a historical reenactment in honour of Queen Joan I of Anjou. Ladies, knights, men-at-arms, musicians, and artisans bring alleys and squares to life with parades, encampments, archery contests, historical games, and taverns. The highlight is the artistic burning of the Angevin Tower, a symbol of the village in the lower Molise region.

When Colletorto Returns to the Middle Ages

In Colletorto (CB), a village in lower Molise dominated by its famous Angevin Tower, the Notti Angioine (Angevin Nights) each year transport residents and visitors into the atmosphere of the Angevin period. The event, now almost thirty years old, is one of the region's most beloved historical reenactments.

A Reenactment that Revives the Queen

The festival is dedicated to the charismatic figure of Queen Joan I of Anjou, who is linked to the village's history. For two evenings, ladies, knights, men-at-arms, musicians, artisans, and commoners bring the alleys and squares to life with costumed parades, medieval encampments, shows, archery contests, historical games, taverns, and live medieval music.

The Burning of the Tower

The most anticipated moment is the artistic burning of the Angevin Tower: a spectacular show that illuminates the village's symbol and concludes the reenactment evenings. The Notti Angioine, organised by the APS Gruppo Storico Giovanna I d'Angiò ETS, combine historical reconstruction, popular participation, and territorial enhancement, bringing an important chapter of Molise's history back to life.
