About Notti Angioine

In mid-August, Colletorto returns to the Middle Ages with the Notti Angioine, a historical re-enactment in honor of Queen Joan I of Anjou. Ladies, knights, soldiers, musicians, and artisans bring alleys and squares to life with parades, encampments, archery contests, historical games, and taverns. The highlight is the artistic burning of the Angevin Tower, a symbol of the town in lower Molise.

When Colletorto Returns to the Middle Ages

In Colletorto (CB), a village in lower Molise dominated by its famous Angevin Tower, the Notti Angioine transports residents and visitors to the atmosphere of the Angevin period every year. The event, with almost thirty years of history, is one of the most beloved historical re-enactments in the region.

A Re-enactment that Revives the Queen

The festival is dedicated to the charismatic figure of Queen Joan I of Anjou, linked to the history of the village. For two evenings, ladies, knights, soldiers, musicians, artisans, and commoners bring alleys and squares to life with costume parades, medieval encampments, shows, archery contests, historical games, taverns, and live medieval music.

The Burning of the Tower

The most anticipated moment is the artistic burning of the Angevin Tower: a spectacular show that illuminates the town's symbol and concludes the re-enactment evenings. The Notti Angioine, organized by the APS Gruppo Storico Giovanna I d'Angiò ETS, combines historical reconstruction, popular participation, and territorial enhancement, bringing an important chapter of Molise's history back to life.
