Edition 2025 — Notte dei Pupi

On December 31, 2024, Gallipoli celebrated the Notte dei Pupi to welcome the arrival of 2025. From 11:00 PM, the central squares came alive with live music, while papier-mâché puppets created by young local artisans were displayed in the neighborhoods. At midnight, the effigies were burned in the traditional fire ritual, with the participation of residents and tourists.

The 2025 edition of the Notte dei Pupi took place on the night of December 31, 2024, as part of the Christmas Lights program of the Municipality of Gallipoli. The Ionian city, in the province of Lecce, welcomed residents and visitors with illuminations, markets, and musical performances in the squares.

As per tradition, the papier-mâché puppets displayed in the various neighborhoods were set on fire at the stroke of midnight, in a fire ritual symbolizing the farewell to the old year. The competition between districts and the bonfires closed the year, offering the Salento community a New Year's Eve filled with art, folklore, and popular celebration.
