The first collective dive of the year into the icy waters of Lake Garda
The New Year's Dive Bardolino City is one of the most charming and anticipated traditions on the first day of the year on Lake Garda. Every January 1st, dozens of participants gather on the Mirabello lakefront in Bardolino (province of Verona, Veneto) to dive together into the icy lake waters.
The Bardolino dive is traditionally the first collective dive of the year on Lake Garda, followed by similar events in Peschiera, Lazise, and Brenzone on the same day. Participants range from children just a few years old to seniors over 70: a moment of pure joy that inaugurates the new year with a thrill.
The event hosts the Thomas Trophy, dedicated to the memory of Thomas Bertoldi, a member of Canottieri Bardolino who passed away prematurely in 2022. The trophy awards the best costume, the youngest diver, and the oldest diver. The event is organized by Canottieri Bardolino ASD with the patronage of the Municipality.
The 10th edition of the New Year's Dive Bardolino City, on January 1, 2026, marked a new record: 158 divers plunged into the icy waters of Lake Garda, from children to those over 70. The first collective dive of the year on the lake, organized by Canottieri Bardolino, preceded similar events in Peschiera, Lazise, and Brenzone.

Bardolino is reachable by car from the A4 motorway (exits Affi or Peschiera del Garda). The meeting point is on the Mirabello lakefront.
Free admission for the public. Participation in the dive is open to registered participants.
