The patron saint of Bardolino lights up the lake with Christmas lights
Every December 6th, Bardolino, on the Veronese side of Lake Garda, celebrates its patron saint Saint Nicholas. The religious festival coincides with the start of the town's Christmas celebrations, in the province of Verona.
The program includes the solemn Holy Mass in honor of the patron saint in the parish church and, subsequently, the lighting of the large Christmas tree in Piazza Matteotti — a real fir tree that will later be replanted in the area — enlivened by the songs of the gospel choir from the Bardolino Modern Music School.
For the little ones, Santa's house opens in Piazza Principe Amedeo, where they can deliver their letters, and the iconic underwater nativity scene at the port, blessed with the Gas Diving School association. The Saint Nicholas Festival thus inaugurates the rich "Christmas in Bardolino" program, curated by the Bardolino Top Foundation and the Municipality.
