The festival's high-altitude stop at the Teatro Quartieri in Bagnone, Lunigiana, featuring the all-female jazz trio Le Scat Noir
As part of Musica sulle Apuane, the high-altitude cultural festival that brings the mountains and villages of Tuscany to life from late April to late September, there is a special event held within the intimate walls of a historic theater: the concert at the Teatro Comunale Ferdinando Quartieri in Bagnone, in the heart of Lunigiana, in the Province of Massa-Carrara. It is the only stop of the festival hosted in the Municipality of Bagnone, making it a precious occasion for both locals and visitors to this corner of Tuscany.
Musica sulle Apuane was born in 2013 from an idea that weaves together music, nature, and the promotion of mountain territories. It is organized by the Italian Alpine Club (C.A.I.), "Elso Biagi" section of Massa, in collaboration with other Tuscan C.A.I. sections and the Apuan Alps Regional Park. The artistic direction is entrusted to pianist Gioia Giusti. Each year, the festival offers a series of events winding through mountain huts, churches, botanical gardens, theaters, and trails of the Apuan Alps and Lunigiana, almost always reachable via hikes accompanied by C.A.I. guides. All events are free of charge, in the spirit of making culture accessible to those who choose the mountains.
Bagnone is a charming village in Lunigiana, a land of castles, parish churches, and ancient markets, crossed by the stream of the same name. The Teatro Comunale Ferdinando Quartieri is a small, intimate Italian-style theater with immersive acoustics, testifying to the cultural vibrancy of this territory. Hosting a festival concert here means combining the mountainous and itinerant dimension of Musica sulle Apuane with the warmth of a historic theatrical venue, where every note finds space between the stage, the stalls, and the galleries.
For the 2026 edition, the Bagnone stage is entrusted to Le Scat Noir, an all-female vocal trio born in the summer of 2013, when three musicians from Northern, Central, and Southern Italy met at the Ferrara Conservatory to study jazz. The group brings together Sara Tinti (vocals and piano), Ginevra Benedetti (vocals), and Natalia Abbascià (vocals and violin). Their repertoire alternates between jazz standards, Italian singer-songwriter classics, and original compositions, arranged for three voices, violin, and piano, with moments a cappella and others enriched by instrumental accompaniment. A refined and personal project, awarded in numerous national competitions, bringing elegant and colorful jazz to Bagnone.
The 14th edition of Musica sulle Apuane runs from April 25 to late September 2026 with fourteen events blending music and theater, located in the most evocative places of the Apuan Alps and Lunigiana. The Bagnone stop is scheduled for Tuesday, September 8, at 9:30 PM at the Teatro Comunale Ferdinando Quartieri. Like all festival events, this concert is free of charge, with no reservation required.
The Bagnone evening is one of the fourteen events of the 14th edition of the festival, which also brings names like Lella Costa, Giovanni Sollima, and I Patagarri to the villages and high altitudes, in addition to an unprecedented three-day theatrical trekking experience and a scholarship program for young local artists.
