Mozzarella ind'a Murtedda Festival

The 2025 edition

From August 5th to 10th, 2025, Novi Velia, in the heart of the Cilento, Vallo di Diano and Alburni National Park, hosted the Mozzarella ind'a Murtedda Festival in the spaces of the former Celestini Convent. At the center of the event, as always, was the raw cow's milk mozzarella wrapped in myrtle sprigs, a Slow Food Presidium linked to the summer transhumance on the pastures of Mount Gelbison.

For six evenings, the food stalls and taverns set up in the convent offered the cheese alongside Cilento cured meats, wood-fired bread, homemade preserves, seasonal vegetables, and artisanal desserts. The program alternated between folkloric shows, traditional dances, milk processing demonstrations, and guided tours of the village and the mountain sanctuary, confirming the festival as one of the most popular events of the summer in the Cilento hinterland.
