About Mountain Festival

At the end of June, the Campo di Segni plateau, in the heart of the Lepini Mountains, transforms into a grand open-air stage: this is the Mountain Festival, an event celebrating the bond between the town of Segni and its mountain. Hiking, Nordic walking, sunset strolls toward Monte Lupone, equestrian demonstrations, stargazing, live music, and tastings of local products bring to life a weekend designed for all ages, blending nature, authentic flavors, and folk traditions.

A festival on the Lepini Mountains plateau

The Mountain Festival takes place every year at the end of June at Campo di Segni, the picturesque plateau overlooking the town of Segni, in the Metropolitan City of Rome Capital, in the Lazio region. Nestled within the woods of the Lepini Mountains, the "Campo" has always been a place dear to the hearts of the locals: a vast green plain where families head to seek cool air during the summer, and which, during the festival days, fills with stalls, music, and outdoor activities.

Nature and sports for all ages

The event's program puts the mountain at the center: guided hikes and Nordic walking treks along the Lepini trails, truffle-hunting walks, high-altitude Pilates sessions, and quad bike tours for the more adventurous. Among the most evocative moments of recent editions are the sunset walk toward Monte Lupone, one of the most beloved peaks of the Lepini Mountains, and the evening stargazing event "Eyes to the Sky," to discover the starry sky far from city lights.

Horses, shows, and live music

There is no shortage of equestrian demonstrations curated by local riding groups, such as the Gruppo Ippico Monti Lepini, and activities by local dog training centers. Music accompanies the festival days: the 2025 edition featured cover bands, country and bluegrass groups, and DJ sets, as well as a theatrical performance dedicated to transhumance. In 2026, the festival hosted the "Squilli al tramonto" concert by the Gli Ottoni del Lazio ensemble, organized to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Collegium Musicum Signinum, the town's historic musical institution.

The flavors of the Segni mountains

The Mountain Festival is also a journey through taste. Food and wine stalls offer typical products and local specialties, while convivial events like the traditional "cotta e magnata" and the roast veal feast bring residents and visitors together at the table. Special attention is paid to the marrone segnino, the local chestnut, which is the subject of meetings and in-depth discussions curated by the producers' cooperative.

Tradition, culture, and community

Promoted by the Pro Loco of Segni together with the Municipality and local associations, in a mountain area historically linked to the Comunitร  Montana dei Monti Lepini, the festival also dedicates space to culture: conferences on local history, brigandage, and the relationship between the community and its mountain tell the identity of these places. It is a participatory festival, built from the ground up, which has managed to renew itself over the years while staying true to its popular spirit.

Segni, a city of art between Rome and the Lepini

The festival is also an opportunity to discover Segni, an ancient city in the Lepini Mountains about an hour from Rome: the cyclopean walls, the Saracen Gate, the acropolis with the church of San Pietro, and the co-cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta tell over two thousand years of history. Heading up to the Campo di Segni for the Mountain Festival means combining nature, good food, and heritage in a single weekend.
