Edition 2025 — Mottola Living Nativity

In the winter of 2025, the Mottola Living Nativity returned to animate the Grotte della Madonna delle Sette Lampade with its re-enactment of the Nativity. About a hundred performers in period costumes brought sacred scenes and ancient crafts to life along an evening path through the rock cavities at the foot of the Mottola hill, culminating in the traditional Procession of the Magi on January 5th, the eve of the Epiphany.

The 2025 Christmas edition of the Mottola Living Nativity confirmed the formula that has made this event one of the most beloved in the province of Taranto over the years. Among the Grotte della Madonna delle Sette Lampade, visitors followed an evocative itinerary, illuminated by soft lights and lit fires, leading to the Nativity cave.

About a hundred performers in period costumes represented the main episodes of the Gospel story — from the Arrival in Bethlehem to the Annunciation, from the Edict of Herod to the Procession of the Magi — along with scenes of daily life and ancient crafts, with tastings of local products along the way. The organization was handled as always by the Gruppo Folkloristico Motl la Fnodd OdV, under the artistic direction of Pietro Palagiano and with the patronage of the Municipality of Mottola and CSV Taranto.
