Edition 2025 — Montefranco 1444

In May 2025, Montefranco renewed its historical re-enactment of the passage of San Bernardino of Siena, bringing the historic center back to the atmosphere of 1444. Artisan workshops, costumed processions, competitions of drummers and flag-wavers, musicians, and taverns with Umbrian cuisine enlivened the village of Valnerina on the evenings around the saint's feast day.

The 2025 edition of the San Bernardino Re-enactment confirmed the ritual that has animated Montefranco for almost forty years in mid-May. For several evenings, the village was lit by torches and braziers, with the workshops of the money changer, blacksmith, apothecary, and baker open along the alleys, and with taverns offering ciriole, stuffed focaccias, and lentils from the Valnerina.

There were also historical processions in 15th-century attire, competitions of drummers and flag-wavers, and performances by musicians, with the staging of miracles related to San Bernardino. A festival that, even in 2025, confirmed Montefranco among the most evocative villages in the upper Valnerina of Terni for historical re-enactments.
