Edition 2025 — Penance Festival
On July 29, 2025, Montattico celebrated the Penance Festival. The faithful renewed the ancient vow to the Madonna della Pace with the traditional barefoot penitential procession, keeping alive a tradition dating back to the 1837 cholera epidemic in the Comino Valley.
2025 Edition
The Penance Festival took place as scheduled on July 29, 2025, in the hamlet of Montattico, Casalattico, in the province of Frosinone. As every year, the community processed through the village streets to the Church of the Madonna della Pace, renewing the vow of 1837. The penitential rite, with participants barefoot and in white tunics, confirmed the continuity of one of the most intense and authentic religious traditions in the Ciociaria and southern Lazio.
