A Major Retrospective in the Heart of Fermo

From December 8, 2026, to May 2, 2027, the Palazzo dei Priori, the 13th-century building overlooking the famous Piazza del Popolo in Fermo, in the Marche region, becomes the venue for Andy Warhol and Pop Art, the exhibition event chosen by the Municipality of Fermo and Maggioli Cultura e Turismo as the major exhibition of the winter season. Following exhibitions dedicated to Frida Kahlo and Marilyn Monroe and to National Geographic photography, the city of Fermo continues its cultural commitment by focusing on one of the most recognizable names in 20th-century art.

Over 150 Works to Tell the Pop Genius

The exhibition itinerary brings together around 150 works that trace Andy Warhol's artistic and personal evolution: screen prints, videos, posters, ceramics, and a special section with about sixty rare vinyl covers, testifying to the deep relationship between Warhol and the world of music. The most famous icons of Pop Art dialogue with lesser-known materials, presenting the visitor with the complexity of an artist who forever transformed the relationship between art, consumption, and image.

From Warhol to Basquiat, Haring, and Koons

The exhibition is not limited to Warhol alone; the narrative extends over time with sections dedicated to the great heirs of Pop Art and contemporary art, from Jean-Michel Basquiat to Keith Haring, and Jeff Koons. A curatorial choice that allows the Warholian lesson to be read as a seed from which some of the most groundbreaking artistic experiences of recent decades have sprung.

The Curators' Signature and Local Support

The project is curated by Vincenzo Sanfo and Alberto Rossetti and is promoted by the Municipality of Fermo with the organization of Maggioli Cultura e Turismo and the support of the Fondazione Carifermo. With an investment of approximately €200,000, the exhibition represents another step in a strategy that has led the museums of Fermo, in the province of Fermo, to exceed 50,000 visitors in 2025, compared to 17,000 just a few years prior.
