The origins of DOMUS in 2025
Before reaching the village of Piè La Villa in Tornimparte, the DOMUS project by the Afedia collective took its first steps in L'Aquila. The debut act, "Periferica", took place at Palazzo Benedetti on Via Sassa, in the heart of L'Aquila's historic center, featuring exhibitions, talks, and performances hosted in hidden and forgotten courtyards and urban spaces.
The project responds to the condition of L'Aquila, a city that still bears the signs of the 2009 earthquake, where entire spaces remain hidden behind scaffolding and architectural silence. Founded by Alessandra Condello and Diletta De Santis, Afedia transforms these suspended places into spaces of vision and encounter, in an itinerant and participatory form. The 2025 editions consolidated the language of open-air art which, in 2026, moved from the capital city to a village in the Abruzzo hinterland.
