A City That Jumps for Joy

For a few weeks, the historic center of Piove di Sacco, in the province of Padua, transforms into a widespread urban gallery: shop windows, views, and squares host photographic portraits of those who truly live in this city. Memorabilia. Take a leap into the center! is an outdoor photographic exhibition that showcases citizens, merchants, artisans, and entire families captured in the precise moment of a jump.

Halsman's Legacy

The project stems from a precise idea: to revisit the famous jumpology of the Latvian-American photographer Philippe Halsman, who in the mid-twentieth century asked his famous models to jump in front of the lens to capture their most authentic nature, free from social masks. In Piove di Sacco, this gesture becomes collective and popular: the jump as a revealer of energy, joy, and belonging to one's town.

A Community Project

The exhibited images are the result of a two-day participatory shooting session, during which residents posed for the camera. The result is a mosaic of faces and bodies that reflects the daily rhythm of the Saccisica region. The exhibition is curated by Eurema Lab as part of the CQFP – Come Quando Fuori Piove project, promoted by the Municipality of Piove di Sacco with the support of the Department for Family Policies of the Presidency of the Council of Ministers.

A Dialogue with the Great Master

It is no coincidence that Memorabilia takes place concurrently with the major exhibition Philippe Halsman. A Flash of Genius, held at Palazzo Pinato Valeri: the open-air installation thus becomes the popular and contemporary counterpoint to the historical exhibition, building a bridge between author photography and the shared experience of an entire community.
