Mattinata del Viso Adorno (Viso Adorno Rite)

The 2025 edition of the Mattinata del Viso Adorno took place regularly on December 9th and 10th in Torino di Sangro, in the province of Chieti. On the evening of December 9th, the community gathered in the seaside hamlet of Morge for the torchlight procession toward the historic center, along the path of the ancient Tratturo Magno, amidst litanies and stops with bread and oil, leading to the vigil in the church.

At dawn on December 10th, the statue of the Madonna was brought onto the church square for the Viso Adorno chant and the Buongiorno alla Vergine, with the band paying tribute to the town authorities. In the evening, after the solemn mass, the rite concluded with songs, dances, fireworks, toasts with red wine, sweets, and scrippelle, and the large final bonfire, confirming the vitality of one of the most deeply felt religious traditions in Abruzzo.
