Mater Domini Festival

The 2025 Mater Domini Festival in Mesagne had its main day on Sunday, April 27th, preceded by the preparation triduum starting Thursday, April 24th, with the rosary and mass presided over by Archbishop Mgr. Giovanni Intini. Due to the passing of Pope Francis, the parish chose to celebrate the festival in its religious dimension only: secular festivities, fireworks, and the Saturday procession with the arrival of pilgrims from Pisignano (LE) were canceled.

On Sunday, holy masses were celebrated at 7:00, 8:00, 9:30, and the solemn mass at 11:00, led by Fr. Cosimo Pagliara. In the evening, at 18:30, the solemn city procession with the statue of Mater Domini took place through the town center, concluding with a Eucharistic celebration around 20:00. The days of April 24th and 25th were also dedicated to prayer in suffrage of the Pontiff.
