The Music Festival arrives in Matelica

On June 21st, the summer solstice, the Music Festival is celebrated throughout Europe: a large popular festival born in France in 1982 and become an international event, made up of free and widespread concerts that invite musicians of all levels and genres to play in the streets and squares. Matelica, an elegant town in the Province of Macerata in the heart of the Marche region, also participates in this celebration every year, transforming its historic center into an open-air stage.

A festival that belongs to the city

In Matelica, the Music Festival has a strongly community-based character: the protagonists are not big names, but the musical realities of the territory. The Civic Music School Metodo Rusticucci - Toscanini '79, the Matelica Music Band with its Junior Band, and young local students create a program that blends different genres, from band music to youth groups, up to the DJ sets that close the evening. The heart of the events is the Giuseppe Piermarini Municipal Theatre, a 18th-century gem overlooking the historic center, while some moments move to the city's squares and outdoor spaces.
