Maria SS. Assunta Stella Maris Festival — Sea Procession

The 2025 festival in the seaside villages of Torchiarolo

The 2025 edition of the Maria SS. Assunta Stella Maris Festival took place on August 14th and 15th in the seaside villages of Torre San Gennaro and Lendinuso (Municipality of Torchiarolo, Province of Brindisi). The preparation was marked by the novena, with morning and evening masses and an itinerant novena at 7:00 PM presided over by Father Sabino Perillo, traveling from Miramare to the main church.

On the day of the Assumption, after the land procession that departed at 10:00 AM from the Stella Maris church, the statue of the Virgin was embarked at the small harbor for the sea procession along the entire Torchiarolo coastline, with the blessing of the waters and a tribute to those lost at sea. In Lendinuso, on the evening of August 15th, the statue was taken to sea from the Madonnina della Canuta towards the rock "Lu pizzu te li cuti" for the solemn Eucharist. The celebrations were enlivened by the youth choirs of Torchiarolo and San Pietro Vernotico and by brass bands.
