Maria Regina degli Angeli Festival

The 2025 edition of the Maria Regina degli Angeli Festival confirmed the vitality of a centuries-old tradition in the village of Mineo, in the province of Catania. As is customary, the celebrations on the last weekend of May alternated liturgical moments in the Church of Santa Maria Maggiore with great popular participation in the streets of the town.

The heart of the festival was the evening procession: the precious alabaster statue of the Virgin, accompanied by confraternities and city authorities, was carried on the shoulders through the streets of the historic center, with the faithful walking barefoot along the characteristic climbs of Mineo, renewing vows and prayers to the patron saint of the village.
