Edition 2025 — Maggiolata

In 2025, Castel del Giudice also celebrated its Maggiolata on May 1st, an ancient spring propitiatory rite with a procession of young people in costume, beech branches, and the traditional house-to-house song to wish the Alto Molise community a good harvest.

The Maggiolata is a well-established tradition in Castel del Giudice, renewed every May 1st. In 2025, the village of Alto Molise revived the spring propitiatory rite: young people in costume, carrying beech branches, paraded through the village streets and houses, singing the Maggiolata song to wish for prosperity and a good harvest.

The rite, deeply rooted in the identity of the municipality of Castel del Giudice (IS), represents one of the most cherished moments for the community and formed the cultural basis for the subsequent Habitus Maiensis project.
