Edition 2025 — Madonna Vasa Vasa

In 2025, the Madonna Vasa Vasa drew thousands of faithful and visitors to Modica. At noon on Easter Sunday, April 20, the traditional and moving encounter between the Risen Christ and the Madonna Vasa Vasa took place in Piazza Monumento, in front of the Town Hall and along the traffic-free Corso Umberto I, sealed by the flight of white doves.

The 2025 edition of the Madonna Vasa Vasa confirmed the charm of the Modica Easter ritual. Two processions departed from the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria di Betlem: one for the Risen Christ and one for the Madonna, draped in her black mourning veil, accompanied by the city band along Corso Umberto I. The most anticipated moment was the noon meeting in Piazza Monumento: at the sight of her risen Son, the Madonna opened her arms, shedding her dark cloak to reveal her sky-blue dress, while dozens of white doves took flight. For the occasion, Corso Umberto was closed to traffic to welcome the large crowd.
