Madonna di Materdomini Festival

In 2025, the Madonna di Materdomini Festival confirmed its strong appeal across the entire Agro Nocerino-Sarnese region. The night between August 13th and 14th, the final day of the novena, saw devotees ascend to the Sanctuary with paintings dedicated to the Madonna, which were then displayed on the churchyard and the square in front of the basilica.

At dawn on August 14th, 2025, at 5:30 AM, the dawn mass presided over by Bishop Msgr. Giuseppe Giudice opened the celebrations for the solemnity of the Assumption. Local reports described the square and the church steps filling up progressively as the morning advanced, amidst hymns, prayers, and the scent of fresh flowers, in an atmosphere suspended between reflection and celebration.

The popular side of the tradition was not lacking: castanets accompanied the songs, dancing took place on the churchyard, and palatelle were shared on the evening of August 14th. The Franciscan community that guards the Sanctuary, a social and charitable reference point for Nocera Superiore and Roccapiemonte, accompanied the entire cycle of celebrations, which concluded on August 15th with the solemnity of the Assumption.
