Madonna di Loreto Festival

The 2025 edition of the Madonna di Loreto Festival took place in Surbo, in the province of Lecce, in the days following Easter, according to the tradition that sets the celebration on the Tuesday of the Easter octave. As every year, the patronal feast represented a true second Easter for the people of Surbo.

The statue of the Madonna, covered in votive jewels donated by the faithful, was carried in procession through the streets of the historic center, followed by children in devotional dress and women who, due to an ancient vow, walked the route barefoot. Alongside the religious rites, the traditional market fair enlivened the town streets for the entire day, while the festivities concluded with a fireworks display.
